Hemphill KO’s Richie Stewart, Mussachio & Locket fight to a draw in Delaware

September 24, 2008 Leave a comment

Dave Tiberi and his TNT Boxing were back in the first state, this time along side Hall of Fame Promoter J. Russell Peltz who was on board as matchmaker for a competitive 7 fight card at the new Hockessin PAL Center. The main event figure to be a barn burner and lived up to it’s promise as Andre Hemphill and DE Native Richard Stewart went toe to toe in this battle of tough guys. In the co-feature, many were expecting an easy night for Wildwood’s Chuckie Mussachio but Maryland’s Willis Lockett had other ideas as these two squared up for an 8 round Light Heavyweight fight. Super Bantamweight Teon Kennedy had a measuring stick fight against Robert De Luz who is best known in this town for losing to Teon’s closest competitor Eric “Outlaw” Hunter a few months back. “Flawless” Anthony Flores, Pedro Martinez and others were also on the bill in supporting roles as Delaware continues to build a name for itself as first class fight town. Scroll down to find out what happened.

Andre Hemphill….vs….Richard Stewart
Philly………………Delaware

The sands in the hour glass of Richard Stewarts career seem to be running out as he was knocked out in the 3rd round of his scheduled 8 rounder against Andre Hemphill in front of his hometown fans. Not that it was a one sided blow out though. Stewart was able to score a knockdown of his own last in the first to solidify a close opening frame. Hemphill beat the count and went on to engage with Stewart through round 2. In the 3rd, a hard right sent Stewart crashing to the canvas. Stewart beat the count but Hemphill jumped right on him and finished the job moments later with a vicious left- right combo which sent Stewart sprawling. No 10 count was needed as referee

Winner by TKO Andre Hemphill

Chuckie Mussachio….vs….Willis Lockett
Wildwood, NJ……………Maryland

This light heavyweight match up has a common theme throughout. Mussachio circled the ring, jabbed and throw a straight right for the most part while Lockett who was the smaller fighter, consistently tried to force his way inside.

Not a whole lot of action in this one, no one was seriously hurt or in danger. It went to the cards which read 79-73 in favor of Mussachio but was over ruled by two other judges who saw it at 76-76 for the majority draw.

Teon Kennedy….vs….Robert De Luz
Philly…………….Michigan

Teon Kennedy used this opportunity to show why he feels he is the best of the lower weights in town. Over 6 one sided rounds he fought smart and threw a lot of combinations to the head and body of his foe. De Luz was willing to fight but never really got close to touching Kennedy. This one went to the cards which read 60 – 54 x2 7 59 – 55 in favor of Teon Kennedy who inches his way closer to a USBA title shot.

Anthony Flores….vs…Jason Rorie
Philly……………..North Carolina

For three rounds, “Flawless” Anthony Flores boxed circles around the wild Rorie who came is with his head down and arms swinging. Rorie stepped it up a notch in rounds 4 & 5 to no avail as Flores had answers for everything he threw. In the 6th Rorie went for broke but gassed out bad a minute into the round which allowed Flores to Tee off until the referee jumped in to stop it.

Winner by 6th round TKO Anthony Flores

Pedro Martinez…vs…Otgonbayer Daivii
Philly…………….Virginia
